It seems that the older I get the more I find myself thinking about my relationship with Christ. How deep is it? How strong is it? Even, how close and personal is that eternal connection? I am not at all surprised that I often don’t have a clear answer to those questions. Our relationship with the Savior appears to have a fluid kind of nature to it. Those days when we spend our time in worship or prayer or even listening to Christian music, we are drawn closer and have a more intimate connection with the Lord.
But those days when we find ourselves drifting through life in whatever direction the current wind is blowing, and I think we all have those days. On those days the chasm between us and God gets wider and wider.
When that happens it is important to understand that it is not God who has moved! It is we who have taken our eyes off the goal and wandered astray.
But here is the good news. No matter how far we have wandered, no matter how distant or estranged we find ourselves, the journey home is only one step!
Jesus said “Come unto me.” This is a Holy invitation from Jesus Himself. There are no conditions, prerequisites or requirements, just “Come”!
The song says “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of this world will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
Just one step, will you come, today?
Yours in the love of Christ
Pastor Dick
Breath prayer; Lord, may just “one” take that step today, Amen
