Most of us have felt the pain of loss or tragedy in our lives.  It is a part of life that we somehow learn to live with and hopefully move beyond.  I ran across some song lyrics recently called “I Know” by Ed Bruce.  He writes:

 I said, God I hurt.
God said, I Know!
God, I’m so depressed at times.

He said, That’s why I gave you sunshine.
I said, God, My loved one died.
God said, so did mine!
O God, It was such a loss!
He said they nailed mine to a cross!
But God, your loved one lives
He said, so does yours.
I asked them where they are tonight.
He said, Be at peace my child, they are in my light,

He said, I know, Did I not make you?
The covenant is sealed; I won’t forsake you!

You’re not alone, I’m always around you,
My glory is revealed My love surrounds you….
I know!
I said God, I hurt!
God said, “My child, I know…”

Whatever we are going through God already knows. He knows because He is right there beside you. He hurts when you hurt, he cries when you cry.                                                                                                        We sometimes think that God is distant, unconcerned and maybe even, not interested in our problems, not affected by our loss and sadness. As a result, we might find ourselves distant from Him, not by His choice but by ours.
The wonderful truth, is that He so very close, and so very involved in our every moment that He is not only involved but He shares our sorrows as well as our joys. He hurts when we hurt, He rejoices when we rejoice.  He is not only an omnipotent God, not only an omnipresent God, But He has chosen to be our intimate God as well                                                Try to wrap your brain around that concept!  An intimate, personal, one-on-one, face-to-face God who loves you more than life itself. A God who knows!

Yours in the love of Christ

Pastor Dick

Breath prayer. Lord, may I know you, as you know me! Amen
